Pottery Class & Baked goods

Yesterday was filled with so much fun and learning I am almost inclined to take the rest of the week off... O wait its FRIDAY! I can take the rest of the week off

My dad came and taught a whole group of local homeschoolers about throwing pots on a wheel. We think about 26 kids of all ages came and got their hands dirty in the mud. My dad made it fun for the kids, but he also taught them how science and math are involved in throwing pots, firing them, and glazing them. He taught them and the parents who came a lot about an art form that most people do not have the luxury of ever trying out. Here are some pictures of some of the students getting their hands dirty. Since these children are local students I am only showing their hands, or shots that my dad is visible in, we wouldn't want a child who isn't mine known to the blogosphere.

My daughter K getting dirty.

The day was filled with so much fun and learning, I was exhausted last night! My feet still ache today! I think I walked miles in my own house yesterday. I also baked goodies to share with all these people who were coming to our home yesterday.

There was Zucchini muffins. These muffins turned out so moist and delicious that it should be a sin to tell anyone there is a veggie in them! :) The Zucchini was organically grown in my own garden which was fun to tell the kids!

We also had fresh baked Blackberry Oatmeal bars. These bars were made using frozen berries, agava necture and whole oats.

All in all the day was a fantastic day. I am glad I was able to share such a wonderful experience with so many children. I am also glad that the day is over and today I can focus on my own studies. I have a test to take and assignments to do as well as research to do for a paper I have to write... Ugg I think I need to go play with mud now.

  2. Well Miss Becky you could always come for a visit. :) I am only 9 hours from you and the wheel is still in my garage. LOL Really I am still exhausted from all the entertaining I did yesterday.
