Reading Corner

I love reading.

I do not get the chance to read nearly as often as I used to before kids, but I do so love to read for pleasure.

I just finished reading the last book in the "Earth Children" series named "The Painted Cave" written by Jean M Auel.

I did not love this book, I found it to be full of a lot of repeats from previous books. There were bits of new story in there and I liked getting to live in Alya's world for just a tiny bit longer. I also could never in good conciseness knowing there was one last book out there and never read it.

I am now reading one of my all time favorites by one of my favorite authors,
An Old Fashion Girl by Louisa May Alcott

I have a list started of books I have read but need to go back and add more that I missed putting on there and include the ones that I have read recently.
If you want to check out that list click here.

What are some of your favorite books?

  1. Oh, I think The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy are my favorite books. I love fantasy.

Louisa May Alcott! I loved her writing when I was a kid, and I even read a biography of her. That's such a lovely time in history for a novel.

  2. I loved the lord of the rings as a kid. I read them over and over.

I absolutely love Louisa, her books have always been some of my go to books when I just need something comforting to read. :)

  3. I LOVE Lousia May Alcott, and re-read Little Women every few years -- there is so much wisdom in that book that it should be required reading for ALL young women!

An Old Fashioned Girl is lovely, as are so many of Alcott's other sweet novels. Wonderful writer.

My summertime reading -- which is usually lots of P.G. Wodehouse -- is winding down, time to start in on my winter reading. I think this may be the year I re-read the entire Forsyte Saga. That happens about every 10 years!

Never made it thru the Hobbit, read the Rings books because my daughter, in HS at the time, was so into them -- but I have to admit I skimmed the long epic poem stuff in there. Don't tell my daughter!

Watched the movies for Viggo, I'm afraid.

    Have a great day!

  4. I love legal thrillers. When one of my favorite authors puts out a new book, it is like Christmas.

  5. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment JDaniel4's Mom.

I have to agree that a new book is often like christmas and it never matters what time of year I read it.

I love JD Robb books they are as close to legal thrillers as I get. :)

  6. I was just looking at your list. We're reading "A Town Like Alice" this month for book club. I haven't read it yet, but it was somebody's favorite. :)
